Question Going AI??

This year I’m breeding all the girls AI and can’t decide which company to go with, so thought I’d ask who other people are happy with?
I have a choice of ABS, Accelerated genetics, or Genex (my least favorite do not like the rep) all pretty local so pickup is easy.
Accelerated genetics jersey selection is good but I can’t get a price list online and am still waiting for them to answer my e-mail.
ABS is very helpful and is the closest but not as many jerseys to choose from.
So if anyone has experience and doesn’t mind sharing?

Right now I'm trying to get the Select Sires rep from IL to answer my email/phone call. I called the main IL # to get the closest rep's number. If I don't get a response soon I'm going to call the national number to see what the issue is. Maybe they don't mess with someone who only has a few animals (beef and dairy) but you'd think they'd at least return my call.

We use select sires because they had Grumpy semen (guernsey) and that's what I wanted. They were fine to work with. My AI guy is not affiliated with any company but select sires mailed it to him and he holds it for me in his tank. He charges $50 to come out and I pay for the semen but he doesn't charge storage for his tank. He is great. So far he has been 100% success the first time. He says it is all about timing and that part is up to us to watch and know our cows.

Is the 30.00 with stop charge and breeding or just the semen?

That is the problem I'm having with Genex not answering my e-mail or returning my calls

miss kay I hadn’t thought of select sires but will look them up
I love Guernsey’s and wish they were better represented in AI, I’m lucky to be in Guernsey country, until seven years ago we lived just nine miles up the road from the hoard farm and have been fortunate enough to have some of their heifers over the years great cows!

Oh my goodness, I searched all over the place trying to find Guernsey semen only found one place that offered three different bulls and I can't get a response from them. Then I found this thread and there are like for different places that have Guernsey semen on it. I definitely think that is worth a bump incase someone else in looking for the same thing.

Well, it'd be great to get an update. Did you find the semen and is your cow pregnant?

Actually I’m keeping fingers and toes crossed right now! Monday we’re drawing blood to get the girls checked I’m pretty sure that out of five three took.
We finally went with accelerated genetics. I could kiss the rep first he came out and filled our tank for free just as a test, and when it turned out to be a dud he was able to set us up with a nice used tank for 150 not bad for a sc20/20 only four years old.
We got half a cane each of two bulls Gator and Jebb. So hopefully 7-11, Fairy, and Dandy will have calves by Gator. and Copper, and Hungry have some nice calves out of Jebb.
I’m a little nervous never drawn blood before so hoping that goes okay too!

My husband & I own and operate a purebred registered Guernsey dairy farm just west of Goshen, Ind. We located in the northern part of the state, approx 10 miles from the Michigan line, 25 miles west of South Bend.

We have semen to sell from our own bulls. We do not have a shipping tank. If you do, you could come here to the farm to pick it up or meet my husband when he comes to World Dairy Expo or the Naile in Louisville.

We are in the process of creating a web site which we hope to have on line by the first of September -

villacrestfarm.com

On the site we list some of the semen we have for sale in the bull page.

We can also be contacted at villacrestfarm@gmail.com

You can also contact the American Guernsey Assoc for more information.

Going to cry now Just opened the email and five out of five are open. Three of them have had two go’s and two have had one.
Two straws left and all my cows too breed, oh dear!
How many times do you breed before you give up and use a bull?

The high temps can make it hard for cows to settle. Maybe wait another cycle, let the temps cool a bit. What are you doing for heat detection? We used to use some kind of paint patch that we glued on their topline between the hips and tail. Also very important that the animal is bred 12 hours following standing heat. Sorry you hit a rough patch. I wouldn't have a bull around for anything...always did my own AI. If you bring a bull in, just be sure you and your family exercise extreme caution at all times.
