Fish emulsion meal has been used as a feed intake limiter for cattle for a few years. It works the more you mix in the self feeder the less feed the;y eat.

I didn't see anywhere in that article that they were planning on feeding cattle. It says livestock, which could be chickens, pigs, or more fish.

Fishmeal has been used in US dairy feeds. It is not popular due to the fact that it imparts a fishy taste to milk.

Fishmeal isn't something you use a lot of, it has a place in poultry and swine rations.

I can see using this for chickens or swine, but please tell me it won't go into dairy rations............ I have a hard enough time with cows eating poultry "digest".

I`m sorry, I don`t think fish should be fed to chickens or pigs, let alone cows. When I was a kid my Mom bought a chicken up town one day for dinner. She roasted it up nice and served it for the evening meal, my Father took his first bite and said " this is a store bought chicken isn`t it" Mom said yes it was, and dad said he knew because it tasted fishy. So I think I`ll pass on the fish silage. > Thanks Marc

Mark, I've fed fish to pigs. They just need a little time fish free before you butcher. More importantly, pigs and chickens are designed by nature to eat things like fish.
