New here
I just wanted to drop in to say hi. I've visited this site many times looking for advise and suggestions about our cattle. Just got started about 3 years ago with our first cattle being bottle babies. I've always considered myself a horse and dog kind of girl, but the more I spend with the cows, the more I find that I really like them.
Right now we have 2 cows - 1 black angus and 1 crossbred. The cross bred (Momma cow) calved her second calf on Dec. 29th, a red and white, white faced bull calf. She didn't want to take care of him and he ended up with sepsis (sp). With good vet care and a night in our basement he is now thriving, yeah!
The B. Angus cow (Sister) calved her first calf on Dec. 25th, a black, white face bull calf who is a nice, stocky boy and has been a go getter since day 1!.
Both these calves were by our Reg. Polled Hereford bull (Tiny).
We also have the crossbred's heifer calf from last year who we are keeping, she was sired by a B. Angus bull.
We also have a steer and freemartin heifer that are going to the sale on Saturday.
Then there's the two bottle calves. One has been in my garage for the week, getting over a bad case of scours. He's doing well and I hope to return him to his buddy in the barn this weekend.
Any way, I just excited to find a place to learn and share about cattle and farm life in general!
Here's some pics of the babies...
