ahhh, weining day!

Seems like you just can't cookie cutter cows and their reactions. Separated mom and her calf today, getting the mom and our prego mini-dexter in the trailer was a bit of a rodeo because of our 3 year old Holstein steer being a grain-a-holic. Been raining here, so we are working in 6+ inches of mud. Baby wants in the trailer with mom. Mini-Dexter does not want in the trailer. Holstein going after anything that looks like a bucket. Got 'em loaded and off to the new pasture 5 miles away. Stayed there while the two mamas got familier with the land. Not a sound, moo, or anything that looked like she wanted her calf. (5 months). Back home, baby is just as content as can be in without mom. The only one making a fuss and not shutting up is the Holstein steer. You'd think I pulled him off the teat! He goes to freezer camp on the 8th so I guess I'll let him have his moment.
