Question New Heifer...how long?

We just purchased a belted galloway heifer, 11 months old. I am wondering how long we should keep her seperate from our 2, 8 month old steers (dairy cross) before we let them loose together. I don't know much about socializing cattle

As long as you are sure she is healthy she can be turned in with them anytime. But, I would be cautious about it do to possible illness spreading. Did you buy your heifer from a sale barn or private farm? If you even think she has some illness, or the steers for that fact, I would isolate until you are sure everyone is healthy.

They shouldn't have any issues getting along other than maybe a shoving match here or there.

BTW, I think we need pictures of this pretty girl!

She is from a small private farm, and our steers are healthy and pampered I will have to figure out the pictures, she really is pretty! I think she will take some time getting used to us, but she is super curious about the steers. She appears to be in good health, bright eyed, shiny coat, eats and drinks a ton even with it being her first day here.
Thanks!
I will work on that picture

Only there one day? Then keep her confined to a smaller secure area with hay, water, shade, and minerals for about 7-10 days until she adjusts to her new environment. The last thing you need is a heifer running through your fence and disappearing. Unfamiliar environment, new bacteria, new hay, stress, etc. If you approach this slowly, you will be glad. All are vaccinated?

Ditto on the pictures!
