Dexters??

How well do they do in major cold weather. I am talking -20 to -30 at times. Quite often 0 or a little below.

I suppose they probably could survive, but why not consider Highlands; they're better suited to those temps, I would imagine, with their coats.

There is someone on the Dexter forum that has one and she is in Alaska, maybe that helps?
I am in Western NY, we get lots of snow but only a few nights of -20, not day after day of it. Mine do fine, they have an open barn to get into and are only grass fed, but they do well.

My neighbor has many Dexters and they have no problems whatsoever here in Saskatchewan and we can have prolonged stretches of -20 to -30 and it often gets -40 or lower. His are in a sheltered corral with a three sided shed....nothing special.

I don't know about dexters,but I sure couldn't live in conditions like that..brrrr!!

Sounds like the route to go. Thought about the Highlands but I am also looking for milk.
