Highland cattle feeders

I am looking for ideas for homemade highland cattle feeders. I have 8 highlands. Most fit in regular feeders, but I have one that can't figure out how to get back out. I have to go out and free her. Which can be hard on the hands/fingers.
This year hay is going to be an expensive comodity, so I am looking for ways to conserve it. Usually I just put bales out in the field, but they tend to sleep on alot of it.

Feeders don't work very well for highlands. We use a small trailer and put the hay on that now. Everyone can reach it and no one gets stuck or moves the dang thing around. For feed several times a week...so they come in and we get a look see we use 55 gallon plastic barrels and cut them long ways and use that for the feed.

We use the Black PVC ones the openings are big enough for even the ones with a wide or tall horn spread and are light weight and flexible but tough this will be third year of use.
Still no repairs. but they are expensive 225$.
