I feel horrible for him and his family. Not many details on this.

AI really is not dangerous providing you have sound chutes, head catch, gates & alleyways etc. The article didn't even mention him AIing a cow. I worked over 100 head today, weighing, ultra-sounding, drawing blood, worming, and weaning. All hundred were dangerous, all cattle are dangerous....Sad ending to the young man's life. Never get complacent bad things can happen....Topside

That's a shame. Something went amuck when handling a bull for collection apparently.

As MO said, it sounds as if he were working for one of the Select Sires barns and they were most likely collecting bulls. Even with excellent equipment and experienced people, accidents can happen and cattle and horses are big, unpredictable animals that can do a great deal of damage.

Yep, I always tell new riders that a horse is not a pet and if they are not careful it can kill them, no matter how sweet and docile it is. I've spent my life around cattle and interestingly enough I have never been trashed by a bull, (outside a rodeo arena) but I've been roughed up by many cows and a few steers.

I grew up and spent a great deal of my like working cattle and horses. It is just a fact of life that large animals can hurt and often kill.
