seeding pasture for fall and winter grazing

I have three places that I would like to resow for my two Jersey calves for fall and winter here in tn. What would be the easiest and most economical to plant. Together they are probably an acrea or acrea and half, but they are separated by fencing. 3 paddocks. UT recommends rye/ryegrass, clover, winter wheat--small grains. I dont plan on using this as their only source of forage just want something for them to be able to graze occassionally....they will have their daily grain and hay.

What would be my best options from an economical and ease of planting for this? TIA

I would also like to be able to replant in the late winter early spring for spring and summer grazing.

you might look at titicale its a cross between wheat and rye and makes excellent late and early pasture but you need to keep ahead of it or it will go to head. easy to grow and tolerates cold, will stay growing longer into the fall and start growing earlier in the spring.

I'll ask DH what we are planting. We are in AL, but right at the TN/GA/AL line so close to you. I think it was pretty much the same as UT suggested, plus one or 2 more. I'll let ya know.

Rye and wheat, because they're easy to obtain and relatively cheap. I find that feed wheat comes up just fine, no need to buy the expensive seed wheat.
