Tombstone Helix sprayed hay..safety?

Need some thoughts or advice on some hay we just purchased. The guy said it had been sprayed with Tombstone Helix 4 weeks ago because the hoppers were getting so bad.

Has anyone heard or had any experience with this pesticide and their animals? Do you think it's okay to feed cattle and goats? It's just that we have never "knowingly" fed sprayed hay.

Thanks.

It's Tombstone Helios. Labelled preharvest interval is 7 days. Unless he cut it a month ago, I wouldn't worry

I don`t know anything about this product, but if you buy hay the chances are you have fed sprayed hay before. Most commercial growers spray thier hay for bugs and or fertilize it. And remember we now have round up ready alfalfa, so they can spray that also. I myself don`t spray hay, never have. > Thanks Marc

Thanks for the response. This is the first time we have KNOWINGLY taken hay that was sprayed. It is great looking hay at that. We do ask if the hay we are looking at is Monsanto alfalfa. So far..we have not run into that. As a matter of fact, most guys around here don't want to touch that.

Ah..I guess we'll go ahead and unload the two wagons. I just wanted some feedback and we do appreciate your responses. Thanks a heap!

Oh, it was sprayed 4 weeks ago and was cut a couple of days ago..baled yesterday afternoon.

I've never sprayed my hay. But if faced with feeding stems and insects, I'd spray my fields.

Yeah, the hoppers..both big and small..have really moved in in the last few weeks. Probably because it's so dry.
