Smile Good deed from new neighbor

We have a neighbor that bought a farm up the road from us a few years ago. He doesn`t farm it, but has another neighbor that farms it. Well some of the farm is in CRP, also known as set-a-side acres. This neighbor called this morning and wanted to know if we needed anymore hay, as the county is allowing hay to be made off the CRP ground after the 4th of August. He said he can`t make any money off of it and another neighbor has asked about it, but he wanted us to have it if we needed it. It was such a nice thing for him to do, he lives in Chicago and only spends a few weekends a month at the farm. While the hay won`t be great, it will be better than a snowball. Some people just make ya warm and fuzzy inside, I have faith in my fellow man. Amen. > Thanks Marc

Nice to hear this, Marc. Yeah, good neighbors and friends are hard to find. Kind of the opposite of the other thread about holding hay back to make more money.

Good neighbors and friends are a true blessing, and a wonderful family is all a man can ask for. Now the other thread about holding hay back to make money is just fine, that is what we are to do is make money to keep our farming habit in the black. I have decided that when we make this neighbors hay, I will give some of it away to someone else that needs some. I have a neighbor boy that has a small herd of beefers that could use some, he buys all his hay. This neighbor of ours that has offered the hay to us, surprises me more all the time. > Thanks Marc

Yes, making money is certainly a consideration; however, with half the country in drought, it sure sounded to me like waiting until folks are desperate before selling at a high price.

No Good Deed Goes UNPUNISHED, Well the neighbor called back and reniged on his offer. He said the other neighbor had called him and belittled him into giving it to him, saying he needed it worse than I did, and he gave in to him. And he never realy liked this neighbor because he is pushy and trespasses on his land all the time to hunt. So I guess the good guy finishes last again. Oh well, I will deal with it, wasn`t meant to be I guess. > Thanks Marc

Too bad. I know you could've used that hay.
Sounds like the new neighbor is setting himself up to be bullied for the rest of the time they are neighbors.
