Cows behind global warming?
How many will know that it is not the Sun, but the cows at their farm that are the main culprits in contributing to global warming?
The livestock burps and cowdung cause more greenhouse gas emissions, mainly methane, than that of the emissions from industries.
“We need milk for the country, and now the consumption level of milk has increased with increase in population.
So, now, as we cannot stop drinking milk, we need to know methods how to handle this issue of controlling methane gas emission while at the same time providing milk,” Dr Natchimuthu Gopalswamy, an astrophysicist with Goddard Space Flight Center of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), US, told DC on Tuesday.

For me, this is old news not to mention a load of cobblers.
NZ went down this path some 6-7 years ago to the extent that the prime minister of the time, one Ms Helen Clarke, tried to introduce what became known as the Fart Tax which was aimed at taxing farmers on their cattle. It created such a furore that is was scrapped although they still got their own way by bring in something called the Emission Trading Scheme or Carbon Tax. A convoluted system whereby a business (forestry, farming, electricity generators, in fact anybody that manufactures) buys and sells "credits" in something that doesn't actually exist. Don't ask me to explain it, even the people who run it don't understand it!!! At the end of the day, it's just another excuse for taxation.
It floors me that educated people fall for this type of garbage and allow it to go ahead.
Cheers,
Ronnie

You got it exactly right Ronnie, this nonsense is the real bull shyte. Our very own Al Gore tried his best to get this kind of a scam set up here in the US. Coincidentally, he just happened to have a company ready to deal in these, so called, carbon credits.
I have read that at one time there were more Bison in North America than there are cattle now, I guess those bovines didn't belch or fart and "pollute the environment".

That is a load of bull, literally. There were native ruminants before cattle, so the gasses that are a byproduct of their digestion have always been there. It's just cattle instead of bison now in North America. And probably less cattle than there were bison. Accounts from before the plains were settled speak of bison herds that took days to pass by.
Why do these reports come out every week? Because there are people with an agenda. To get attention and ratings for their news outlets, to sell books, to exert control and manipulate others, you name it.
Cattle can eat poor quality forage that grows on marginal land which won't support farming for grain or vegetables and turn it into protein. That is extremely beneficial to the environment, not harmful.

Why it surfaces every other week is that someone is pushing their agenda. If runinants had casued global warming, what happened when millions of bison roamed the American plains and millions of ruminants roamed the African plains. Do you think that dinosaur flatulence caused global warming? Sorry, this is just another attempt by liberal alarmists to push their agenda.

I first heard about this in the fall of 2002. How I remember when is a long story in itself. lol
If this were true, we would have all kinds of legislation already in place.
Back in 2002, it was The Sierra Club that was behind it and pushing hard for laws to be enacted.

Well, maybe it's time to ban taco chips, chili, beans, and beer too. ;-) Cows aren't the only creatures passing gas.
The millions of cows in North America are replacing the millions of bison that used to be here. Even trade. The about 400 million people in North America are replacing a couple of hundred thousand native people who used to be the only humans here. Who's really adding to the methane level? LOL
I wish people would quit picking on the cows. It's getting pretty tired.

this planet is heating up from the inside out....didn't anybody watch the movie 2012?
Seriously, it is warming from the inside, either by the Sun, or some other body in space, but not by cars, people, cows. etc. IMO. Whatever we are being told or shown in movies is a distraction from the real cause, probably.

You know in the same vein there is a guy our here some where, I heard of him a few years back then he sort of poofed. That says mesquite trees are why we get so little rain...
The way I figure it, God created this planet and he told us how it will end. Humans are not capable of total planetary destruction. We will wipe ourselves out long before we or our trees or cows kill the planet.
For those who do not believe God created this planet, well something way bigger than humans did and it will take something way bigger than humans to end it.

A cow can't emit one more gram of carbon than it consumes. If it lives on pasture, then uneaten pasture would eventually die and rot and release the same carbon. Even if it eats grains and hay imported from another farm, all the carbon in that feed was taken from the same environment that the cow sends it back to. Last I knew, cows couldn't live on coal, petroleum, or any other sequestered carbon, so they can't change the net carbon in the environment.
If you're going to tax something, tax the fuel used in tractor farming, encourage more folks to use grazing systems or animal power instead. Forget the stupid credit systems, they just allow bureaucrats to manufacture a type of currency and give it away according to their own preferences with no significant oversight by our elected officials.
If you're sincerely worried about the net CO2 in the environment, start burying trees.

I'll second the "jerks like Al Gore"idea. He is to environmentalism what James Baker was to religion, both money grubbing charlatans.
