Ahh, but a picture is a thousand words. Which working quarter is she feeding those calves with? Was Bush president when she was born? Which one? When did she last calf?
I love CL ads

Haypoint now you know that is a craigslist ad... so the cow feeds 6 calfs and also gives enough milk for the TABLE... only eats every other day a handfull of feed and lets the grandkids ride also comes when called on cellphone...can drive the tractor and put out her own hay in the winter

I always wanted to run a ad like that and when somebody calls say sorry I just sold her for $10 to a family of 8 because they needed her

Well, Craigslist, of course. But let Myersfarm write it up for you.

Seriously, who do you want to have her? An ad at the feed mill will attract a dairy farmer. A post-it note at the grocery store will attract people that want to come see your farm.

A well written CL ad will attract a wide variety of folks. I like the ones that know all about milking a cow, but don't know what to feed her. Then there are the ones that want to pay you $25 a week. The ones that need you to deliver because the truck is out of gas and the dumb neighbors won't let them borrow their trailer any more. It is fun a thousand different ways.

I just bought one in milk (freshened 3 weeks ago) without the calf for $1400. He was asking $1600, but she's not completely perfect, so he dropped the price. Although I think she might be perfect for me I happily paid the $1400. That's a decent price around here.

Well, at that price I would have to go take a look, or at least make a call.

Last 2 jerseys I bought were for $500 and $600 each, I'm in Iowa so maybe it has to do with the area prices, midwest is cheaper... Although typical around here is $800.

ETA They are both really good 3 year old cows too. All 4 quarters good and in milk. Just producing too little for the dairies they were at I guess. Between the two of them I'm getting 8 gallons a day and giving one gallon a day to a calf.
