Feeding potatoes?

We get a lot of leftover veggies and fruit. The pigs and sheep don't like raw potatoes, but apparently the two freezer bulls do. Any reason not to let them eat raw potatoes? It's a lot simpler than having to cook them for the pigs.

Just chop them up into smaller pieces to prevent any choaking.

I am very surprised your pigs won`t eat them, I feed them to my pigs all the time , and they love them. > Marc

Thanks, folks. I hadn't thought of cutting them up. The boys have been taking bites and chewing, but I can see how they might get ahead of themselves.

Marc, the pigs prefer the sweet stuff: apples, avocados, fruit. They love potatoes cooked, but all the root veggies are ignored - beets, carrots, turnips, etc. - unless they're cooked. It works OK in the winter - I fill a canner with veggies and put it on the wood stove and it's food the next day - but I don't want to run the electric stove in the summer. I had gotten a 50 pound sack of dried chicken meat from somewhere, and put a scoop of that in with the potatoes for a boost.
