what breed?

A friend of mine bought what was sold to her as a red Zebu heifer. I feel that there is Jersey in her plus the man did have a small Jersey bull yet no zebu bull.
well to make a long story short I now own the heifer but I don't think my tiny bull can reach her. She has been in with him for 4 months and he has off and on tried to mount her but he is a secret breeder and she never has shown heats openly.
she is on the large side of mini if not slightly over maybe 400 lbs. I found someone that is willing to PG test, has a tank and will ia if needed but I not sure to what breed I should breed her to.
Zebu seamen is not easy to come by and Jersey or a beef breed would be MUCH easier.
since there is a all jersey dairy in town they might sell me a straw. I could go either way, a possible milking heifer or beef calve to eat. I just want to do what breed is best for her.

What do you think, what breed and what breed should I breed her to?

what breed? - Cattle

has your bull produced a calf before? it looks like he should be able to get the job done, and yes it looks like she is a jersey cross, but i am not real up to date on Zebu. i would try and get her bred back to a zebu personally, but thats just because i think it would be cool and probably easyer on her for a first calf, other wise i would go Jersey first i think,

Has she been preg checked? Or you could do a Biopryn blood test to confirm if she's pregnant. If she's been with him for 4 months, I bet she's already pregnant.

How old is the heifer? Zebu is bos indicus and they are slower to reach sexual maturity.

If the age that the man who sold her to my friend is right, she would be 2 1/2.

I have a man who said he would check for $20.00 and IA with small sized jersey seamen for $60.00 reg and $80.00 sexed if needed.

She looks just like my Jersey, Liza. I don't know if she is a purebred, I think she is, but looks just like her.

does not look like a JERSEY to me...the white ring around nose is common in lots of cattle breeds Jersey Zebu and long horn

there is way to much POLL the flesh between her horns looks massive ... for me to see Jersey but I do see longhorn and zebu

also the length of her Nose from eyes to nose is way to long to be a Jersey...but not to long to be a longhorn or zebu

her rear hip bones look like NOTHING I EVER SAW on ANY COW...but I never saw a zebu up close either just in pictures

I can not see the Jaw in any pictures there is something about a jersey that I can look at the jaw shape and it tells me there is some jersey in there

to me Longhorn or zebu in her background but I do not see JERSEY

here is a closer pic.
zebu have a long face called a coffin face. you can't see it but she has almond shaped eyes and has little white dots in a line above them.
I do feel she has zebu in her but might have something else as well.

I thought longhorn also. Around here people often have both together as they are both exotic cattle.

Are you positive she has zebu in her at all? When we used a zebu/brahma bulls all the crossed had at least a tiny hump and definately a longer stretch of skin to the naval area. She's not showing any sign of a hump or a stretched skin under belly.

No, not sure. but she has the almond shape eyes and the coffin face.
as for the hump and belly skin. the other young heifer (2 years this last feb.) in the 2nd pic IS zebu and she has neither.
