Cabbage Breath/drying off question

I have been giving the cows a new feed for a few months now. I got it from a dairy an hour or so away.

I noticed Sissy my 3 year old Jersey/Guernsey kind of hand cook cabbage breath--not my favorite smell. She acts normal and produces just fine.

This morning after she left the barn and there was just Yo in there, I smelled it again. Yo doesn't stick her face in mine and I didn't stick my face in hers, but I think she stinks a little too, I just got a wiff of it.

Also, I need to dry Yo off. Its a few weeks earlier than I need too, was going to do it in May--I only get a quart each milking.

Do I switch to once a day milking or just stop?

I have already cut her food down to 2 scoops (everyone gets about 1, and Sissy gets like 4--twice a day). Should I stop milking and cut her down to 1? or cut her down to 1 first?

I would cut down to once a day then go down to once ever other day..IT will not hurt this way but might not see a problem starting the other way or by just stopping

If she is only giving a quart, think I would just quit milking her. > Thanks Marc

Funny, my sister comes over to milk once a week or so, and noticed the cabbage breath! Our cow just went out full time on pasture, and started producing another gallon a day. Not real sure if she had cabbage breath before or not.

Sounds to me like she needs to floss a bit more regularly.

A quart a milking? I'd just stop milking her. Check on her udder the first few days then every few days till you are sure she dried off fine. Do NOT express milk, just have a feel of the udder and make sure it feels fine.
