So whats a heifer worth these days?

2 year old Red Holstein xRed Angus, nice shape, about as quiet as these two breeds come in so she's bright alert and stand-off-ish. She's open.

I keep seeing the average on dairy cows in the $1.30 pound and beef in the $1.70...will depend if she has a BEEF BODY fat OR A DAIRY BODY skinny

[[[.....She black?.....]]]]

Not if both parents are red.

Serious problem with the program when Purebred Red Angus can't get the Angus premium but a black Simmental can.

She's taller than an Angus and seriously meatier than a Holstein. She'd be bred not butchered.

Depends if she's going dairy or beef. You could buy dairy cross heifers here ready to calve for $1100-1200 so open she'd be somewhere a good bit less than that. Beef if she was bred would be worth more. As an open heifer, I'd guess $800-900

Shes a good looking animal small polled head and shoulder width isnt excessive (she is all red) stocky and likely 1100 pounds. Sale barn seems to say .97-1.30 so 800 might be weak but if shes smaller ...... Not looking for a premium just a fair price. Buyer is a neighbour exdairy man who keeps some beef cattle now
