Looking fear head on....nutty cow....
This look here looks as though my perdy cow could be posing for a photo op at this time right? All pretty and posed? Think she is posing or do you want to guess this look on her face??
[IMG] [/IMG]
This is her look of paralyzed fear. There is a new solid blue hay bag hanging in the barn that has a small hole in the front for the hay to come out of. This hay bag.....is dangerous. FOR ME!!! Tried milking her....WITH IT IN THE OTHER SECTION OF THE BARN....and she about killed me today worrying about that hay bag. Like....I was sitting there milking and she was worried and wanted to turn and look at it and so did a 180 right there....over me and my stool. UGH! Talk about wanting to kill a cow but I couldn't help but laugh....after I got over being mad at being shoved into the shavings and ...other stuff. Animals are so weird.

LOL!
Terrible and scary new things!
You should have seen me trying to milk a hundred head the first time after we put in new BLUE grain troughs.
The old ones were black.
Your cow is lovely!

Thanks guys! I think she's a pretty girl too. Got her from a dairy as one of their culls for low production.
gone a milkin that doesn't sound fun at ALL!! LOL! It was bad enough with just one. LOL!

Too funny! She is a nice looking cow.
Reminds me of when we started using a fly rub. They wouldn't come thru it even for feed, so we took it down. Put it back up while they were eating, and they HAD to cross it to leave the pen. Once the first brave one went, the rest followed, and now they LOVE their rub and seek it out.
Cows are even sillier than horses sometimes.

I would submit that a herd of yearling heifers is about the silliest thing on earth. Once moved a herd of 200 of them with nothing more than one man in a pickup honking the horn and myself following behind on a horse for stragglers. The pickup was in front. They just followed it wherever it went.

The dairy barn I worked in as a kid....had a clean out shovel with the floor painted were it sat..you could move that shovel a foot out of the box and every cow would stop and look at it like it was UFO

Beautiful cow. I don't like when they freak out, kind of scary for both of you.

Karen....the bruise on my hip would have to agree with you! LOL! She gives right at 4 gallons a day which is just right for us and then I raise calves on her as well. I milk her out and feed the milk though, don't want them on her pretty udder. LOL!
Yes Judy...hang something weird and look out! UGH!
Love the street sweep idea! That is awesome!
Animals are indeed very unique....says something about their owners I'm afraid to admit. LOL! Never been one to be described as ordinary! LOL!

What a nice looking cow, my cows are not to worried about new things most of the time. They seem to feed off of each other in fear sometimes. > Thanks Marc

she looks like she has her summer coat already - but it sure does not look summery from the landscape. And she is lovely!

Well thank you! Ya know, her hair is shedding off quite a bit already. But out weather here has been SOOOOO strange. Cold then hot then cold then hot again. My goats are starting already too and the horses a little bit. But thank you for the compliments, I have to admit, despite the insanities, I am quite fond of her. She thinks she's an 800lb labrador! LOL!

Ever see a strange dog run across your pasture?

Cats got nothing on cows for curiousity. If they hear the tractor start up they all come crowding around to see what's going on. Makes it real hard to work in their pasture, lol.
If we've moved ANYTHING in the milking stall, everything comes to a screeching halt while it's minutely inspected by each girl. Even moving my jacket or a washrag out of the normal spot has to pass inspection.
I just wish they had nine lives, lol. Or were as agile as cats.

Personally I am very glad they are NOT as agile as cats.
Can you imagine?
