bknthesdle/ Sim/Angus

Hi. I noticed in one of your posts that you run Sim/Angus. Just curious how they work for you. How did you come about the cross? My goal, if I live so long, is a total sim/angus herd. Thanks.

They were my husbands plan. I prefer the straight simmental. They are calm and I love their thick legs and stocky body, and their very calm nature. I feel like the only thing the angus really adds in is the milk. We have some great angus that produce tons of milk for their kids. I'm not a big angus fan but the hubby loves the sim/angus cross.

Thanks for the response. I've noticed the difference on the lower leg, mostly the heavier joint on the sim calves. I started using the Angus Bulls due to the market wanting black. Since, I have slowly started retaining some sim/angus heifers. I am really pleased with them. I'm about 50/50 now on straight Simmental and Sim/Angus cows. I agree with your husband the breeds do compliment one another.
