Jersey Heifer for Trade
We would like to trade Lily's 9 day old heifer calf for a cow calf pair of a beef breed. I would like the cow to be already bred back. We are open to offers, don't be shy in asking.
The calf was sired by our own bull, Hercules, and she should grow to be a very small nice homestead jersey. She was 23" tall at birth.
Lily herself is 43" tall and was sired out of Munifordia's Gamboge, an Old World Jersey bull. Her mother is an AJCA registered Jersey - Larklund BFW Hearts. I have never had her paperwork done but she can be registered with the AJCA. Lily is registered with the AMJA&R as 50% mini. She is currently nursing the calf and giving me almost 2 gallons/day - this is her second lactation.
Hercules was sired by Forrest Glen Avery Action and he and Lily share the same mother - Heart. I also have never done his paperwork but he can also be registered.
If so desired, I can do the paperwork and have the calf registered with the AJCA and the AMJA&R as 25% mini. The cost of this would have to play into the value of the trade since I really have no desire to spend the money to do it and the registration isn't really important to me.
If we keep this heifer, 4 of our cows are going to be 50% related to each other and we need to diversify genetics a bit. Heart is a great cow and going strong even at her age but we already have 2 of her daughters and this calf (her granddaughter) is genetically 50% her too since it was sired by two of her previous calves.
Also, we have decided to cross breed our cows this year to a beef breed so Hercules is for sale also...or trade of course.
