I'M still Looking for a MILK COW

I think I need a shoulder to cry on . I have been looking for a cow for 11 months now, have had two deals made for cash and delivery, One Gal in North Amarillo had a nice gentle Jersey cow with calf. The price was right, she was to deliver it and I was going to pay her an extra 300.00 for the four hour trip up here ... to make a long story short, when it come time to bring it here she wouldn't ans. her phone , I called several times with the same results no ans. on her cell and she has it with her all the time! And you guessed it, she never showed up! That was deal # 2 from her. Then I made a deal with a guy that has open up and auction in Fowler Co. he had a Holstein, we made the deal ,he said he would be here twice and didn't show either time, so I called him and told him to forget it I didn't want to wait a third time for him not to show up the moral of the story is KEEP YOUR WORD! Mayby Im just unlucky ..So Im still looking .....

Oh I know the feeling, we have a tough time finding good dairy cows in Florida too. Are you a member here: http://familycow.proboards.com/index.cgi

There is a thread where people list cows for sale, and you can also post your own "wanted" ad. And there may be people nearby who can help you if you post your problem in the main thread.

Good luck!

You live in a part of the world where tradition has it that a man is only as good as his word. It's sad to think that the state of the world has degenerated so far. Hopefully the problem is restricted to the two people you were involved with.

I hope you have better luck next time.

Sorry it's been so frustrating for you. If you're wanting a family milk cow, wouldn't a Holstein have been a bit overkill?

Unfortunately a lot of sellers have also been handed the short end of the stick.. maybe if you went out to see the animal and then put a deposit down (get paper proof of such) with the balance due upon delivery? You don't say if you went to see the jersey that was 4 hours away, but I wouldn't load up an animal and drive it 4 hours to someone who hadn't seen it in person.. then again I wouldn't promise to do so either.

I really hope you're not out any money on either deal, keep looking, you'll find her one day!

Hummm that is true , I uasually visit with the person a lot before I show interest in a cow, by phone or email . My problum is I cant leave the farm for very long, to many critters to check on and my Husband is on oxigen 24/7 so we have to drag bottles with us where ever we go and one can only carry so many ! If I leave them all I worry about hubby, Horses, dogs etc. If Im needed Im not excessable & nearest neighbors are in their late 80's so I try to find an honest cow seller that can bring a cow to me .. Fat Chance I guess. Oh about a Holstein It was one of the deals that fell through I just couldnt find anything else with in my budget in fact I'll take any milking breed bred back or with a calf...Thanks for your input !!!
