Genetic Testing????

I have some registered Angus cows, and they trace back to a herd that had some genetic defects, a big ranch in Kansas that sold a lot of high-priced bulls.

Several laboratories can now test for the defective genes, and I intend to have my mother cows tested, then AI those free of the defects to bulls that are also free.

Have any of you dealt with this? At today's prices it may be practical to just sell any calves from carrier cows. Friend told me today that some calf prices were over $2 per pound.
