New Addition! :)

Looked outside this morning, and noticed this little young lady lounging around the hayring with her momma.....

New Addition! :) - Cattle

She is a purebred 1/2 lowline Angus. Here she is with her momma...lookit them ears! Momma went and hung out with the neighbor's lowline angus bull this past spring.

It was great taking Baby (the cow) across to play with the bull....DH went out with the halter & lead, showed it to her and put it on her. Led her across the street, took it off her in their pasture. Couple - three months later, went back and repeated the process to bring her back home.

She was showed as a calf.....not at all since then. Hmm, might have to consider showing her myself at the fair this year. DD got her as part of the 4H heifer chain program.

I like it when they are in the first day or two post-birth....right after taking that picture, I was scratching her under the chin and she was sucking that up like ohhhh that feels good.

After about the 3rd day, with new calves here its typically game over, they run like the wind from the two leggeds. Or, maybe, it could just mean game on?

Oh gosh, I know exactly what you mean. When they are brand new they are absolutely unafraid and so sensory-oriented.
It is one of my dearest pleasures to get them all lovey like that and kiss them on their soft eyelids.
And touch their little bendy soft ears. Even to handle their tiny rubber eraser hooves.
Newborn calves are just so perfect and precious.

They sure dont stay that way though! LOL

She looks so tiny next to her mama! What good cows you have with a little baby like that. She is a doll, and so glad you got a heifer.

That's the Lowline in her. Her daddy throws really small calves heaviest so far 47 lbs., one
only weighed 27 lbs. Not bad she may tip the scale about 40 lbs.
