Elenore Update....pics

Well, still in the woods but seeing improvement. She looks like she feels like a semi hit her but she is trying. Best I can tell she drank some of the molasses water I left her as about 2" of it is missing from the 4 gallons I left her and there was that foamy looking stuff all around the bucket. Goats could have reached through and drank it but it is very unlikely. She is wanting to drink the fresh warm water I just took out but I think it might be too warm. Granted, it is a good luke warm to me but her nose is ice cold and so, kinda like when your hands freeze and warm water hits them it feels like nails. That might be how it feels to her nose.
But, I fed Bummer his bottle and let him out and she was watching him and then stood up! She is still shuffle movement but, she is up. There isn't much in her udder but he did nurse which I think gave her a little want to. He was running and bucking in the barn and she was standing there watching him with her doped expression but still, interested in what he is doing.

Here she is in her horse blankets. One fell off...

Here she is from the front. You can kinda see that foamy stuff on her lips...not sure what it is from.

And here is little bummer. Notice, he laid in the only poo pile around but...that's a boy for ya! LOL!

She is up at least, I take that for a good sign. Pretty calf too.

Thanks you, he's a cutie pie. I hope this is a good sign. She seems to be holding her own for now.

Yea! she's up. Not looking all that bad for what she's been through. I tried and tried to get one of my cows to drink molasses water. She never did. Please, be sure you offer her regular water too - molasses water might not be what she wants.

allenslab-Hello there. I have been following your situation. I know you and your cow have went through a very stressful time but hang in there, you have done all you can do. You have done a tremendous/wonderful job with her. I'm glad to see that Elenore is standing up and she has a beautiful calf.

About 5 years ago, I went through the very same situation. So, just keeping my fingers crossed that Elenore can pull through this. Hoping for better days ahead!! Take care.

Thank you. I honestly don't know how she has made it other than by prayers and well wishers and a very strong will and heart. I thought she was dead more than once. She had what I now think was stuff from her stomach coming out her nose (it looked like poo but there was no poo anywhere around), and just looked like a dead cow more than once. I didn't know how far one could get with milk fever and actually have a chance to recover but honest to goodness....I never want to have anything this far gone ever ever ever again in my whole life.....ever. Vet said that unfortunately once she has it...odds are I will be dealing with it each calving and I should be looking for it closely.

It's funny that to some...a cow is a cow is a steak is a burger. And to many they are but it's the ones that you bond with that make thinking of bad things happening to her just like she were one of your kids. It sucks!

Heh ... try having 100 in the milking string at work plus 4 of your own to worry about! It's a wonder my hair isn't gray. :
