Question Steer with issues

I have a 700 lb steer just moved here a week ago with watery eyes and a cough. Eats fine and is frisky.
Shipping fever or pnuemonia??
Any other thoughts

thanks
Steve

Definitely sounds like shipping fever, the symptoms are the exact same as what we get with ours (in addition to snotty noses too). Give him a shot of Nuflor or Resflor (which ever is available), it'll clear up soon.

I would ask your vet, mine told me baytril if there is a cough and nuflor if there is no cough. My baby was frisky up until the point of a 2 week sickness. Yes i know babies are different than 700 lbers Mine ended up with a bacterial infection, but had the same symptoms plus scours.

Christy, I beg to differ with your vet. We used Nuflor on our calves (which were around 500 to 600 lb when we purchased them) regardless if they had a cough or not. Coughing is only one little symptom in one where a pile of symptoms come up when it comes to BRD (bovine respiratory disease). We used Nuflor on calves that were coughing and those with snotty noses and both cases cleared up nicely.

sorry to leave you hanging,
I talked to the vet.
As I was taking the girls in for AI he said just thow him in to.
He looked at him for 30 seconds and listened to his breathing. Then gave him a shot. He said it was a combo drug. He seems fine today
Thanks for the feedback
Steve
