Round hay /silage bale slicer

does anybody have a big round hay or silage bale slicer...I need one I guess i am getting lazy.. not having to cut the plastic off and looks like it is easier on the grinder......I saw one that grabs the bale cuts it in half and also holds on to the net wrap or plastic wrap as you drop it into the grinder

but they are all across the pond...does that tell you how old I am

he is the link..but I would settle for anything near this if i can not find will just have to make my own

I had never even seen one til this vid. Sounds like a mythical beast to me.
A machine that cuts bales and keeps the wrap out of the grinder?
Surely you jest.

eta:
I would need to take a class to keep from dumping part of the first half on the ground.
Not that I would be allowed to drive THAT fun toy. LOL

Thats actually pretty cool. I will be showing DH this video. Then he will say 'I'll build one same day" and it will go at the bottom of the list just like all the other things he is gonna build one day.

why I need one I wrap silage just like picture and the stuff just stinks to high heaven....pull off the plastic and then getting the net wrap off..then gathering up plastic and putting in trailer to burn later.....no matter how carefull...you will rub up against some of it....makes my wife NOT WANT TO feed....plus it is hard to scoop up if it falls out of bale going to grinder....i have bad knees and getting on and off tractor is not a good thing

but the cows just love it

If there is liquid in the wrap you are baleing too wet. We shoot for 50% drymatter but we have made 65% dry matter bales and had no problem with them keeping. That is a neat contraption but we feed in the barn so that would help us much. We have a dealer that handles Tanco, let me do some reasearch for you.

We just try to bale a little on the dry side to get as much dry matter per bale to get the most for the money. It doesn't really matter on a smaller scale but we do 1,000 to 1,200 bales a year and the extra money for wrapping water will really add up. We have had some 2nd and 3rd test just shy of 19%. Best feed money can buy in my opinion!

Nope, no fescue in WNY. We have been grass so long there is a little of everything. Our hay is part orchard grass, reed canary, pereniel rye, timothy, red and white clover all in different amounts in different fields.

We have VERY heavy ground no alfalfa, we just got a test back today. Canary grass 2nd cutting 61% dry matter came in at 17.4% protien, fairly soulable to which was supprising because it was drought stressed big time this summer.
