Bull (pics)

Scoreing bulls today at Tennessee Tech. Scored 40 bulls, 1200-1400 pounds. Ultrasounded for fat thickness, rib eye square inch, and marbling...Thought I'd share...Topside

Ooh, cool!

So do these bulls belong to the school?
Are they going to be AI sires?

That looks like a fancy high-tech squeeze chute set up.

Thanks for sharing.

This group is going to auction which is held on campus. The school has 3 farm locations totaling thousand acres. We have several squeeze chutes, this one is a mobile high tech version for sure. The school also has a sheep herd and a pig farm to. A few year ago the holstein dairy was shut down, milked 60 head all student ran. Just couldn't make enough money to justifiy it's overall costs. Sad. Beef cattle is their primary focus....Glad you enjoyed the photos....

Topside,

Thanks for the pictures. If I ever figure out how to do so, I hope to post a picture of my new registered, black Angus bull.

Are those bulls in the pictures over-weight? BMI score might not be applicable to herd bulls, but it seems to me that those guys would score around a seven.

I had no idea that Tech had operating farms. I have quite a few friends who are alumni. I need to get over there some day and look around.

Thanks again,

Tom in TN

Tom, you really should come visit. I'm a student and would be happy to walk you around the farms. Tech has 3 thousand acres to play with I wrote 1 thousand above, all of the farms are ran by students under supervision. The students live, study and work on the farms, good program. Topside

Nice looking bulls, a little on the overweight side IMO for on-farm stud but nice looking bulls for sure.
