I want my cow back

Washington state Law advice needed. I can sue in small claims for for the money, but I would rather have my cow!

So my "friend" who was "helping" me took my cow to be bred to a place I was not comfortable with, and she agreed to take care of it all. I gave her money. I fattened her steer she gave me being led to believe we were splitting the beef. Then she never returned my calls. Now she claims I abandoned my cow and she belongs to her when I dropped by her house and saw my cow.

Anyone know what legal venue I need to use to claim my cow? I want to act quickly.

I am done doing business with women.

do you have registration papers or vet bills describing the cow with your name on the document? A bill of sale might be helpful as well.
What happened to the steer? How long has she had the cow? I am assuming this was all verbal?

Getting a judgement in small claims court is one thing, collecting it is another. If you know where the cow is I'd go and get it, taking along and paperwork showing I owned her. I doubt the cops can help as they would consider it civil. You might call them tho and ask if you can repo a cow.

Do you have any pictures of her in your field....I would just go get her at night....if she was at the end of my lead rope it would be hard for her to prove it is her cow.....if it was close by

She took the steer at the same time as my cow then informed me after the fact she wasn't sharing the meat. I let that go to preserve the friendship over the cow.

The plan is to tighten the screws tight to get my cow or the money. Iwant my cow. In small claims, I will sue for the cost of my cow, my milking machine and vacuum pump she refuses to return nd the cost of finishing her the steer and the the cost of repairing fences the booger tore up escaping. She didn't tell me about THAT when she "gave" him to me.

I went to her home this morning, remain gracious and informed her I wanted my cow back and would do whatever it takes. She went crazy ballistic whack. She knows of my legal skills. Her only skill is Girl War nastiness, lying and backstabbing. If she's whacknasty when her husband got home, he may make her give the cow back.

Go steal the cow back? No. Cops will tell me it's a civil matter and they know nothing about law beyond that. I just ca't find the information about suing for the return of property. Small claims is for money only. I can only use the money for leverage.

Seems to me that YOUR milking machine is thieft. Any sale receipt for it. WHile you are there you would find your missing cow. But you would have to file a report on both of them being missing.

Go to the door and tell her to give you back your cow, or you will file theft charges on her. She stoled your cow and your stuff. Plain and simple.

I second this, she stole from you, file charges if she won`t give your stuff back. > Marc

I would talk to locall Sherif, report theft of milking equipment, get advise on cow theft. Then happen to find them, your treaspassing on her property but if your recovering your property there is some leanancy to your treaspasing. ask Sherif if this might apply if you find your cow. If sherif seams reasonable fellow, give him the full story and ask for his escot while you pick up the stollen property, I'd have wittness (hubby or more) or paper work to prove possion before calling, the equipment is a theft, do you have some reciepts.
