Been looking at Dexters for quite a while now.....
None in our area that raise them seem to milk them so getting one in milk that is accustomed to it seems out of the question.
I told DH that the next best option seems to be to raise one up to be handled and trained.
I saw this ad today and am very interested.

It will still take some training to milk a new hiefer when she freshens but if you have some pasture to raise her up on or don't mind paying to raise her go for it. Just as long as you have a way to get her bred when the time comes. Should be a little puppy dog by that time!

I have heard that it is better to get Dexters that come from milking lines if you want to milk them.
