Emergency Medical Kit

I need to put together an emergency medical kit. What should I have in it? Ditto for a calving kit.

depends on your neighbors. on one side the neighbor has a full stocked vet refridge---they are big ranchers, and on the other side the neighbor have a full stocked oby set up so I can get about anything I need at anytime. the most basic kits should have some colostrium, electrolites packs, antibiotics, wound/fly spray, pinkeye stuff, rope, knife/tools, and at least a head catch panel for doctoring.

Antibiotics - (I have one cow who is allergic to penicillin) so we keep LA 300 and Pen. Banamine (now available as generic Flunixin Meglumine) is good stuff, too.
Corid, sulfa boluses, scour treatments.
If you have dairy stock, it is important to stock all you might need to deal with Milk Fever, and Ketosis, both to help prevent or to cure. Better to have it and not need it than lose a cow because there's no time to fetch what you need. Probiotics are worth their wieght in gold sometimes
Aspirins- people kind are fine-- one per 100 lbs body weight.
You will add stuff to your supply as you go along, main thing is to keep it where you can grab it quick when you need it.

Here is a question, you don`t have any of that stuff, what do you do? How can you get by if you don`t have anything? I can McGiever almost anything, and substitute alot of things, what would you do? > Thanks Marc

Oh that's EASY! come over here and title the thread "Help!"

Seriously though, that is a good question. What kind of emergency are we going to pretend?

Let's say you go out to the field and find a cow down that cant get up.
What would you check first?
