When do horns start?

I have a holstein steer that is around 9 or 10 weeks. When should I start seeing some sort of horn nub poking through? I am wanting to burn them but didn't want to until I saw something to let me know that he'll get them. LOL! So....when should I start seeing something?

do not know they grow differently to the feed and mineral they are getting....BUT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FEEL THEM THE DAY THEY ARE BORN....and I know by now they will still move around in the skin so just feel

Usually, you can feel them right away. We do have a bull right now though that throws a lot of calves with late horns. Even by 2 months you can't always feel them, but by weaning they have them.

I was out there just now and I think I will wait a couple of days as I just banded him today and considering he is still so ouchy from that. Figure it is better to let him recoup then again might be best to get it all over with at once. Not sure. He also got his blackleg shot today. Poor guy still likes me even after all that....sweet fella.
