Nice, healthy looking critters that no doubt have a good home and excellent caretaker. Way to go.

Nice looking animals and nice photos - you must have a better camera than me.

That holstein calf somehow looks alittle cat-like - maybe it's the nose.

What breed are the red cattle in the top photo?

Thanks everyone.

The Red ones are Angus. There is another name for it but I don't know it. The Red ones and the Black one all have the same father, he was black Angus. And if memory serves me right they all have the same mother and she was red. (except the Red bull which is in the top picture--same father, but one of my Red cows is the mother)

Sorry that doesn't really answer the question.

My camera is a Canon 20D. I had a better lens on it last week, but then I fell in the brook and broke it, my brother-in-law is letting me use his lens 75-300

This bull was the Daddy to the Angus cows, I am posting if because JDog likes my Nipsie. This was taken more than a year ago. Bully was sold about a year ago (before we bought the cows from the neighbor)

Oh, great pix! I love the face shot of the Holstein, it looks like a little bunny! And the pic of the red cow with her nose to the golden girl is just precious!

I think these babies are WAY cuter than cats... But that's just me! :P

The good thing about cats is they can come in the house and sit on your lap.

My first thought was Red Angus, but I didn't think they had a dish shaped face like the girl. Almost looks like a Jersey head with different color. Really attractive.

Now for some trivia. The gene for black dominates over a gene for red. So for a black bull to father a red calf, he must have a hidden red gene he passed on when bred to a red cow.

Thanks for the trivia.

I don't know Bully's history. He was in the pasture when we moved here and I never asked. All the cows (red and black) were born after we moved except one of the red ones--she bore two red bulls (the last one may be fathered by a red bull with that same black father--he resides in the freezer.) I have 2 red ones and they have very different faces. That red cow above bore a black bull calf--traded him for the Jersey heifer in August. The guy that took him called him pig face, he said that is what he calls that type of face, Lucy the mother has that face as well.
