Oh My LORD!
I've never quit yearning after a Jersey, even though it's been years since I had one. I kept my churn and my butter molds.
Well, this weekend I'm going to go look at a quasi-miniature girl, first freshener, in milk. She gives about 2 gallons a day.
I am so stoked!
I guess we'll see if I've still got what it takes.

I agree, Jersey`s are addicting, once you`ve had one you can`t stop, they are always in your blood. Go get her Judy. Good luck. > Marc

Once you've had a Jersey, you'll never go back...

And like Lay's, it's hard to stop with just one... or as I am finding out, it's hard to stop with three...LOL. Congratulations -- hope she is the cow of your dreams!

Actually, much as I like 'em, there are 3 other breeds I would put a close 2nd... Brown Swiss, Milking Shorthorn, and strangely, Highlands.

Love Jerseys and have had them since I was 7. But I'm thinking of trying the Milking Shorthorn route next time I need another family milker. Just love that breed too. Time for something I haven't owned before.....

I was checking into a hotel for a working convention in Miami wearing my "Its a Jersey Cow Thing, You Wouldn't understand" tshirt and some gentleman came up to me and said "okay, I don't understand, what does that mean?" so I explained it, and he looked at me increduously and said "you are a farmer????"
I'm like, well, kinda...what do I say when I am a are a hobby farmer? I feel embarrassed to claim to be the same as the real farmer, folks who make a living at it and are my heroes...
