The little ladies available-pics
Finally got pictures today. Had to borrow a friends computer since mine was fried and is still being looked at....please forgive the size of the pics. I was unable to figure out his picture program.
Ok, here are the three heifer calves available at this time. All out of GOOD cows.
#110 and #112 are the older two. Bit over a month, eating grain, hay and a gallon of milk each per day. Both out of nice young cows whom I forgot to take pictures of!
You can see the attitude here! This one is about three weeks old. Caught her chewing cud the other day, so she is well started.
Here she is as a newborn with her mother.
And the youngest is also about three weeks old. Also cudding.
Her dam:
Group shots(bull calf in the back is sold, leaving tomorrow)
These gals have never been sick, never scoured.

I can never look at a brown cow without remember what Gramps taught me. "You know you get chocolate milk from brown cows doncha?" Makes me laugh all the time when I think about it...because I believed it for the longest time!

Okay,I'm curious! Looks like your cows are black and white, what color of bull did you use to get all red and red and white calves!?

Hate to speak for Emily here but I'm pretty sure she's using a jersey bull. This out crop of color is fairly common with this cross of dairy cattle.

and a lot of her herd has jersey blood, even if they are black and white. LOVE the brown and white one. I know the solid ones are just as pretty, but that white just sets her off and makes her jump off the screen!

I have several brown/jersey looking girls in the herd now after breeding many generations back to a Jersey bull. The mother of one of these heifers is black and white, but she is herself half Jersey. The mother of another one is dark brown and white. She is 3/4 Jersey.
The other two mothers(that I didn't get pics of) are already about as Jersey-coloured as they come.
Breed Jersey a few generations and thats the look you will get.
I just had a half Jersey cow have a 3/4 Jersey bull calf. He is grey. You never know what you will get. Its one of the most fun things about crossbreeding.

Yep, already heavily Jersey influenced herd.
My favorite is the youngest. She is solid and steady with spunk also. Don't know, she just grabs my attention at feeding time.

The little one with no eartag has a white marking on her face EXACTLY like my Holstein, Twister!
I named her that because it looked like a tornado.

Her sister from last year was marked almost identicaly.
By the way, those eartags are easily removed if a buyer does not want them. I had to eartag those two early as I couldn't tell them apart when they were younger!

#110 and #112 are sold and gone to their new home.
Both heifers with white on them are still available.

Bright eyes, clean, moist noses and clean butts. Those calves look the picture of health and seem alert and lively, too. Congrats, you must be doing something right.
