Milk Culture Results

Well, I submitted a milk sample prior to treating my dexter cow. She has alpha hemolytic Streptococcus in her back quarter. I infused her with today 12 hours apart, gave her some dex and systemic antibiotics for 5 days. She still has some knots up in her udder, just wondering if anyone has dealt with this type. Her calf is on her, but I milk her when I see her udder has not been emptied. Tonite, I milked both her front and rear sides. The front had some golf ball size balls in it and is swollen now too. Probably the calf passed on what she had in one quarter to the other. Now what? I did not test the milk (CMT) as i milked with a milkin machine. Errrrrrr...

Now you treat her again. This time in all 4 quarters.
Be sure to get her milked out entirely, twice a day.

The knots up in her udder could still be active bacteria, or they may just be swelling and scar tissue.

Good luck with her.
Mastitis sucks.
