calf wont get up help!!!

HELP!! I have tried everything and so on.. i have a 3 month old calf who went down hill when we went to fair he was left home and his sister went to the fair he was eating fine while i was gone but i'm not sure he was drinking sunday he was down his temp is 101.3 and i have put him back as a bottle fed baby he is still down and wont stand but he is eating hay and drinking from the bottle he also drinks water from the pail .. i know the temp was very hot ..what am i doing wrong .. i feel he stress and stop drinking while i was gone and the caregiver didnt seee that he wasnt eating please help i'm not sure where to go next i have given him a vit b and iron and even goat drench and also gatarade and simply syrup i have turn him every few hours so he is not laying in his urine ...

You don't say how long you were gone. Might be heat related, but I really think you should call your vet about this calf, sooner rather than later.

i was gone from thrusday night he was fine i was back home on sat had to bring a goat home cause the goat stress from the heat then i was back home sunday

Have you tried giving him electrolytes? Was he penned with larger animals? He could have been injured.

update calf is at the vet and come to find out he is a anemia not sure how he became anemia confused

maybe a typo in your original post but a bovine's normal temperature ranges from 100.5° F to 102.5° F, but some healthy cattle may have body temperature of 103°

update calf had to be put to sleep he is not making any white and red cell vet is talking about it being in the bone marrow he has done everything he could do ...

I feel so sad for you to lose that calf. We almost lost one last month with the heat. I gave her electrolytes and penicillin and within 4 hours she was like a new calf. It was scary. It was out of your hands though. Best wishes to you!

did the vet say what caused it .....he is not making any white and red cell ...did he give a treatment that could have been done days or weeks earlier.....like mineral or shots or was this just a birth problem that took time to kill him
