how much milk replacer

i am watching a little calf for my neighbors while they went on vacation. i was told to feed him a two quart bottle in the morning and night. he just seems so skinny and hungry but i know nothing about cows. i called them two days ago cuz he has blood in his stool. they are coming back on sat and said they would look at him then----i dont like this one bit. why would he have blood in his stool? its not just a drop it seems like alot. its not my calf and i cant afford a vet bill but like i said i dont like this one bit. and i am not sure how to handle this.

I don't know about the blood, but don't feed him more than the owners instructed. Two quarts twice a day is standard, and more might make him really sick. I would not call in a vet when they have told you to wait.

thanks mary--i am not feeding him more than i am supposed to. like i said i cant call a vet. their daughter called her uncle and he told her the last time he had a calf do that it didnt last more than three days before it died. i feel bad cuz if it was mine i would call the vet but its not and like i said i dont know squat about cows. so i have no choice. i was just making sure it was enough food for him. and am concerned about the blood.
