Question need advice on neomycin oral solution

Howdy folks. I believe I might have a scours problem to deal with. I had a very tiny Jersey heifer calf given to me last week. She has been doing well, except for some diarrhea over the last few days. She is still eating, and in fact I think it is just a little diarrhea from possible over-feeding. But, not wanting to take any chances, I wanted to get prepared to treat the scours.

I went to Tractor Supply today, but wasn't able to get the scours treatment that I used to buy. I don't remember the name, but it was a complete milk replacer formula that came in 1-gallon buckets. What I got instead was Durvet neomycin oral solution.

I'm wondering if anybody out there has any experience using this stuff to treat scours in small calves. Is it effective? I'm also wondering if it would be safe to put it in her bottle of milk replacer, rather than a drench.

In all likelihood, I won't have to give her the stuff, but I figured I'd ask now rather than wait until a crisis. She is a Bambi-looking little cutie, and I will post some pictures later if I can figure out how.

I just read the label, 1 teaspoon per 100 pounds & can be mixed into the milk...Topside

Thanks for the tip. For a while I was giving her close to 1.5 gallons per day, in 3 feedings. When the weather turned hot she started with some diarhea, but it seems to have taken care of itself and she doesn't have scours after all. At least not the bacterial enteritus kind.

On the bottle that I got, it didn't say anything about putting it in the milk for young calves, so I wasn't sure. If I end up having to use it, I will probably do it that way.
