NuPulse Milkers

Howdy all--

I am considering buying a nupulse portable setup, and was wondering if anyone else out there has used them. I would love to hear some feedback as to how well they work or don't work. Here is what I was looking at getting, though not necessarily from the portablemilkers website.

if you aren't going for top production the nupulse is a decent unit.
Add in parts availability and it makes a good choice.

I's sorry that no one has commented on your question. I can't speak to your exact system -perhaps they can't either? Nupulse is supposed to be a good system. I wonder if you would actually need the auto-speed feature. It might make a bigger difference in a larger herd than with a family milk cow. That said, I am sure it is just fine. Are you buying new?

What makes them less suitable for someone going for top production?

Has anyone witnessed the claim that they milk faster when she is is giving faster?

the reason they are not suited to high production is because usually the exact opposite happens.
As milk flow increases more vacuum flow is required to take the milk away from the claw leaving less to operate the pulsator.
I have replaced a couple of systems with electronic pulsation and had immediate increases of over 2000 pounds (or better)per cow per lactation.

Nupulse was big in the late 70's early 80's but fell out of favor as its shortcomings became clear.

I have no experience in using this type of milker, I use old DeLaval milker units that are as old as I am. They just keep plugging away, not complicated, even I can figure them out. I`m kinda a rebel and use things others say won`t work well for them. These old milkers were made in my grandfathers day and I realy like them. My Father used the surge belly milkers and liked them , but they also are heavy and awkward to pull out from under a cow. So use what you want and it should work well for a family cow. > Thanks Marc

Is this flaw just a function of not having enough vacuum storage and/or not having enough pump to keep up? Seems like that specific issue could be solved.

there is a limited amount of flow through the hose and into the claw itself. There is no way to fix it.
In a typical pipeline system you have a vacuum level of approx 15" at the jar.
When milking the level at the teat ends will start at 15" but drop to 9" as milk fills the hose and vacuum is used to lift the milk away. As milk flow decreases the vacuum level will increase.
Just the way things are. Bigger pump, bigger tank, bigger pipeline will not change that fact.
