Birthday calf

Today happens to be my birthday. Got a call from home, I received an excellent birthday present today, a new calf!

Can't wait to get off work so I can go home and see it.

Congratulations on your new calves. Marc is right. Make sure to keep an eye on the cow and twins. Sometimes a cow will leave one of the twins and bond with the other. If you have them penned in a small area, then both twins will be able to nurse. If they are in a large pasture, one twin might not know to keep up with mom and she won't come back for it as long as she has one calf by her side. At least that has been our experience.

This is just our second set of twins, both heifers again, both sets born unassisted, how lucky is that?? We locked mom and twins in the corral last night so they would both be close to her and have easier access to nurse. They were already acting frisky this morning and we saw them both nurse again, so turned them out for mom to graze. But they will probably spend the night together in the corral for a few more days.

Great luck both of the twins being heifers. I am glad they are doing well. Best wishes for your BD also.
