Brand new baby red poll from my heifer

Well Ruby calves today. She was two in march. She had a beautiful bull calf. I checked her at noon and no calf. Then at 630 tonight I was out there showing a guy some chickens and he said that's a nice calf. I looked up surprised and there was ruby and her new calf.
I put him in the barn tonight because it's cool and windy and may storm.
Here is a pic. I'll try to get better ones tomorrow.

He was up walking around at 630 but he is pretty tired now.
I am a bad judge of weight but he is slightly heavier than a feed sack of chopped corn. So I'll guess 65 lbs.

The picture looks like he has contracted tendons. When he stands up, do they straighten out so he can walk on his hooves? Please do post a photo of cow and calf when you get a chance. Red Polls are a grand old breed, they go back a long way but are somehow overlooked by a lot of people.

He seems to walk fine. Tapatalk won't let me put pics on. I'll try to figure that out and post.

The one in the pic is from a Heifer I bought from Ron Lake. The heifer's sire is Magic.
I think I met you at the national sale a couple of years back in Sedalia. I had my two little boys with me. You introduced me to a couple of breeders that might have stock that would do well on grass. I ended up buying from Kim Scott and Ron Lake. I am very pleased with both Heifers. If I had to chose I like the heifer from Kim better, but I like the bull calf out of Ron's heifer better so far. THere is only a marginal difference between the two. But Kims heifer did come out fo winter in slighlty better condition. Both are looking fantastic now. They still look pregnant.
I am hoping to get 2 more heifers this fall.
I joined the red poll association last year, but I think they lost my paperwork. Ron told me to contact the new guy. I did that a few weeks ago and he researched it and confirmed my info had been misplaced. They are supposed to have me listed shortly and then I'll get the magazine and everything.
If I can get a lease deal done with my neighbor I hope to be buying 12 heifers in the next 2 years or so. I love this breed. THey are perfect for grass.

I remember meeting you in Sedalia. You need to go by Ron's and check out his new bull he bought from me.

Has anyone told you about our Western States Red Poll Association? Give me a call sometime.
