Milk cow questions...again

Update- about 3 weeks ago I bought a Jersey who had been under fed. She is doing well. I have pulled the calf. After 2 weeks the calf still had scours from overeating. I figured out she was eating upward of 2 1/2 gallons of milk a day. So calf is on the bottle. 1/2 gallon in the am and pm + grain and grass and hay.
Momma. I am milking her twice a day, but would like to go to once a day for her sake. I am getting about 2 1/2 to 3 gallons a day. About 1 1/2 at each milking. She is on pasture. We need rain- aside. She has hay. I feed her grain 2x a day. I use a 3qt scoop. She gets a scoop of 14%sweet feed, whole oats, alfalfa pellets, and cracked corn. I add some loose minerals and wheat germ oil.
So my question. What do you think of my grain mix? Should I add anything? How do I go to once a day milking with her and still feed her twice a day? Or should I go to grain once a day? She needs to gain weight.
Also flies. How do you keep the flies off her?
Any imput would be much appreciated.

You can go to once-a-day milking, but check her twice-a-day for about a week to make sure that she doesn't develop mastitis. On a once-a-day milking her production will probably decrease, which should help her in the weight department. I would only grain her when I milked this will help cut down on her milk production also. I would probably just give her minerals mixed with loose salt, free choice. You can use food grade diatomaceous earth around her eyes and rear end. This will help a little with the flies. At milking time, I spray my cow with a mixture of apple cider vinegar, a little water, a few drops of dish detergent, lavender essential oil and citronella essential oil. This keeps the flies off for a little while. I have read of some people using the cheapest mint mouthwash as a fly spray, but I haven't tried it.

I wormed her with cydectin on the 10th. That was 2 weeks after I picked her up. I will worm her next Sunday as well.
