Wanted to share our Surprise! :)

My first calf heifer, Cosmo (1/2 hostein, 1/2 Angus) surprised me. I thought she was due closer to the first of June, but came home to find her laboring and hooves sticking out. I thought she was getting closer because her bag had gotten significantly bigger in the last 2 weeks, but you know how heifers are, they can do their own thing!

Here's the baby heifer :

If you want to see the birthing pictures--here is my album you can check it out. Not too graphic, but not pretty

Had planned on using this month to get her halter trained and rub her down everyday to prepare for milking, BUT....now we get thrown into the circus. She's doing pretty well, all things considered.

She's been milked 3 times, and only 1 of those times did she move her feet. She might end up being a great milker! Woo!

Congrats! Nice cow and calf. Good luck with the milking. One of our best milkers as a kid was a half Jersey, half angus cross.

Nice bag on that girl! Looks like she got the Holstein genetics in the udder department.

She looks a lot like my Lillian, who also is an "Angustine."

Nice looking cow and calf, I hand milked a hereford/holstein cross, they give plenty of milk. > Marc
