Question is this normal?

Our open Jersey cow has some discharge coming out of her that is red wine color. I realize they have discharge when they are in heat, but I've never seen it this color before. Is this normal?

Has she been in heat lately ?? She may have an infection, maybe why she hasn`t rebred. > Marc

Most cows have what is called a bleed out after heat, if they don't get bred. It is a little bloody mucous.

I agree with Linn. So yes, this is normal.

Cows "bleed off" even if they do stick, it is bloody mucous only it will be darker then fresh blood.
