miniatures?? should I???

I have the opprtunity to buy a bred mini black baldie (38")...does anyone have any experience with minis? I was thinking since my avail. land is so limited...I need to do my research but wanted to hear some of your thoughts too!! I am raising for family beef, and a few dairy girls to use for grafting calves...Can a mini bull be used with a regular cow? Or would he come up short..hehe..I would be afraid to use a big bull on a mini cow (crush her), or would the calf be small enough, if a smaller breed bull was used??? I think that will be the deciding factor...AI for minis is high!

I want one! Can't answer your questions, just wish I could have the opportunity to check it out.

Small bulls usually have no trouble doing their duty. The cow sees to that. She can reach him.

There are beef breeds, dairy breeds and dual purpose breeds. The black baldie you're thinking of is a beef breed.

Dexters have long been used as the dual purpose breed of choice.

I use my mini hereford bull on my black white face cow and my club calf cow. He has had no problems. Expecting calves in the next month. By the way I have a heifer from last years club calf cow and mini bull for sale now. She is 11 months old. She is black white face with two black eyes.

We have many mini's. We should be having two calves soon and the first bull will be banded and raised for our freezer. We enjoy our little cows, goats, pigs, sheep and horses. We could not have near the animals that we do if they were full size. Find what works for you and enjoy the experience.

I guess that one of the cows was closer than I thought. I had a nice little bull calf running around the pasture this afternoon
