for the want of a cow

It would seem that my short foray into the world of organic grazing dairy will be coming to an end shortly.
I was hoping to be able to finance 40 head and rent the farm where I'm currently milking but it seems that organic demand is pretty good and everybody is holding on to their animals. So there is no way to expand the herd to the numbers I need to assume responsibility.
Still enough cool dairy stuff to do on the homestead though and being in the heart of dairy country here opportunities pop up fairly often....

rats rats rats.....

Sorry! Economics have always come between the farmer and his dream.

Auction was today, but I think Sam is looking for Organic cows, so they would not work for him, but I don`t want to talk for Sam. > Marc

yes they have to be organic. And we seem to be more organic than most.
Have run across a couple of herds but they were kept in barns and fed lots of silage and grain. Not going to try bringing them out into our world of no barns and no grain at this time of year.
