Our First Calf born here! Pics!

Cookie did it! She gave us our first calf born here this morning! A bull calf and he looks strong and healthy as far as I can tell! Woo Hoo!

He looks strong and healthy~ but not a drop of white on him. None at all.....
I bought her already pregnant and running with this bull...what are the chances he's the daddy if the baby has NO white on him?

He looks like a stout little lunkhead to me.

I have no idea about how the color genetics work with those oreo cows though.

From U.S. belted galloway society website:

"Although the white belt is a dominant genetic trait, occasionally solid black calves are born now in belted herds, and belted calves are born in Black Galloway herds."
Mr. Wilkinson cited as authorities for the above paragraphs Lord David Stuart's 1970 publication, An Illustrated History of Belted Cattle; and George Culley's 1786 treatise, Observations on Livestock.
