lame cow

Hi,

I have a 3 y/o Jersey cross cow who is lame. She is 3 months bred, currently in milk and producing 30lbs per day being milked once a day. Eating and milking just fine.

About 2 weeks ago my horse chased her and she jumped the fence. Unfortunately she did not land so well..... ever since then she has been slightly lame in her left hind. She always has that foot cocked, and she takes a few lame steps when she first gets up. Today I noticed her favoring her left hind even more, and there is now swelling and heat in the lower portion of that leg. The swelling and heat are right above her hoof, and extend 6-8" up her leg. The swelling seems mild, but there is definite heat there. Any suggestions on treatment? I have Banamine here. I also have some DMSO that I could put on and wrap her leg. She is a sweet kind gal and will probably allow me to do just about anything.

Thanks for any help!
Chris
