She's bred :)

the Jersey cow, Ellie-Mae, that we bought last year along with her last heifer, is expecting again! Yay! We took her to visit the neighbor's bull (a Jersey dairy) and they mated up immediately. I had the vet out today to dehorn Daisy, the 6 month old heifer and had him check Ellie for pregnancy. He said, yes, she feels about 3 months along. So, we will have a late summer Jersey calf. Hopefully I'll have a little heifer to offer for sale.
This is Ellie-May (she's shy I guess!)

This is Ellie-Mae with her heifer calf from last year, Daisy-Mae. Daisy was 3 months old in this picture.

Congratulations! I wish my girls were pregnant. The one we thought took, went into heat yesterday. Was mooing at my back door at 11pm. Love my cows!

I LOVE Jerseys! Those are some pretty girls, for sure!

Who in the family does the milking?

Thanks Judy. I think they're pretty too, and best of all, they have wonderful temperaments.
Hubby does the milking unless he's out of town, and then I do it. We use a surge/nupulse milker unless the power goes out, and then we hand milk her. She's great either way.

What an awesome family cow! Super top line and great udder shape and attachment! Too pretty to be classified "livestock"! I'm sure she will bring you many years of joy! Congratulations!
