pig tail posts

any suggestions for buying pig tail posts for electric temp fencing? I have ordered them from Lowes and was pleased, but it seems that they are no longer available there...are there different brands? is one better than another? my local sources are tractor supply and tractor supply...I usually prefer to order online..shipping is not much more than a trip to town costs...

Two of the feed stores where I shop carry them. Ask at yours if they can get them for you. Rural king and Family Farm and Home are the ones that carry them here. I am not sure about Tractor Supply.

Here is a summary of my purchases. Tractor Supply posts (red plastic tops) were too small diameter. Lowes first order was great. Second order from Lowes had the portion that goes into the ground too short. Third order from Lowes had a different design that took some getting use to. Lowes then ceased to carry the item.

Next, I ordered a quantity from Kencove to get the free shipping. I am not pleased with the posts however. Kencove has a design at the top that is most awkward for me. My attitude may seem petty but when you handle as many posts as I do they need to be user friendly. To me it is like a left handed version. I have to use both hands to get the twine into the curlicue and I already am carrying an armful of posts. The designer obviously never tried his product. I sent two emails to Kencove, none were replied to. Pasture Management has the same post as Kencove.

Here are some pics of the various pigtail posts

tsc always seems to be at the high end of the price spectrum whenever I shop there.
Any feed mills around? Ours carry lots of fencing supplies.

I bought mine at TSC ,they have white tops here and I like them. Never had any other ones to compare them to though. They are $22 or $23 for 10.
So much better than plastic or fiberglass ones!

As anywhere I suppose, you get what you pay for. Of the four photos that Agman posted, there is only one that I would purchase and even that isn't too crash hot. That was the first photo; the second photo was sort of acceptable if nothing else were available; the Kencove and whatever the other one was were rubbish and I would rather have used ti-tree with insulators stapled to them that waste money.

I kinow that comparitavely I'm spoilt for choice but shop around either physically or via the internet and try to find something like Agman's first photo. With the price of steel, pigtail standards no longer come cheap and you want them to last. Do not be tempted to buy plastic standards.

Cheers,
Ronnie

From what I can tell it's the Zareba brand posts you want. Here's a link: http://www.zarebasystems.com/store/e...sories/ptp3910

They seem kinda pricey here, but if you get free shipping maybe it's not so bad.

I have these posts and they work great. I move fences all summer long and they make the job easy.
